Hey y’all, I’m Stephanie and I’m the sewing enthusiast behind this blog! Thanks for stopping by!
Here on my blog, I share tutorials, my makes and pattern reviews. I love quality fabric and well-drafted patterns. I think with knowledge, practice, and good equipment, anyone can learn to sew. I sew for myself and my toddler…and my husband once every blue moon. I enjoy sewing things for the home and the occasional craft project. I’m a bit of a perfectionist but I don’t enjoy organizing my sewing room. I’d rather spending my time making cute stuff, duhh! I am a sucker for florals and polka dots. Did I mention I love florals?
I am a thirty-something gal living in South Carolina with my husband, daughter and bulldog. I stay home with my daughter while my husband nerds out about physics. I enjoy watching Call the Midwife, Big Bang and Theory and Doctor Who (esp. Matt Smith…I have no patience for the serious episodes!). I don’t tolerate the heat well, so in the summer you will find me with my toddler at the splash pad or at the beach. In the winter, I enjoy walks with my Hike it Baby group. I studied landscape design and sewing (FACS) in college.
My sewing addiction started around age 8, when my mom helped me sew a sunflower print skirt in between teaching piano lessons. Both of my grandmothers were avid sewers, but I am probably the only sewing obsessed granddaughter. I am petite (5’2″ tall), have narrow shoulders and a small bust. I am also a conservative dresser and I don’t like paying a lot for cheap fashion. As you might imagine, sometimes shopping RTW (ready to wear) doesn’t turn out well. Because I love style and am a stickler for fit, I learned to sew my own clothing.
I think many of us are not a standard size, so let’s get over that and sew ourselves something that fits!
I sew with both woven and knit fabric. Knits have a special place in my heart because they are so comfortable and wearable. I love being able to whip up an entire t-shirt during one of my daughter’s naps. There are also few garments that make me happier than a well-fitting swimsuit! I don’t have to try on suits made for another person’s body…I can slip on a me-made suit in fabric I chose, and feel confident in my own skin!
